Why Choose Us
Dedicated Stand-up Stage
The club is set up specifically for stand-up performance, with a mic, stage lighting, and a seated audience layout that puts comics and crowd in direct contact.
Local and Touring Acts
Each bill features a mix of Harrogate-based comedians alongside touring acts from across the UK, so every night offers something fresh.
A Welcoming Room
The club keeps audience numbers intimate enough that no seat feels far from the stage, making it a more connected experience than a large venue can offer.

Tips and Insights
What Makes a Good Stand-up Room
The layout of a comedy venue shapes the entire experience. A lower ceiling, a close audience, and good sight lines between the crowd and the performer all help a set land more effectively than a large, open space would.
How to Get Your First Open Mic Spot
Most comedy clubs, including Aurevionessella, run or can point you toward open mic nights where new performers can sign up for a short slot. Arriving early, watching other acts, and starting with a tight three-minute set is the most reliable way to begin.
Why Live Stand-up Feels Different to Recorded Comedy
Stand-up recorded for television or streaming is edited and polished, whereas a live room carries genuine unpredictability. The spontaneous responses, the recoveries, and the in-the-moment callbacks are only possible when performer and audience share the same space.
What Audiences Say
“I came to Aurevionessella for a birthday evening with a group of friends and had no idea what to expect from a Harrogate comedy club. The room was exactly the right size, close enough to the stage that you felt part of the show rather than watching from a distance. We are already planning to come back for the next headline night.”
“I have been to comedy nights in larger cities and Aurevionessella compares well precisely because it is not trying to be a big venue. The line-up on the night I attended moved well, the compere kept the energy up between acts, and the headliner delivered a strong closing set. A solid evening in a well-run room.”
“As someone who lives locally, I was glad to find a proper stand-up club in Harrogate rather than having to travel to Leeds for a comedy night. The acts are well chosen and the atmosphere is relaxed without being flat. I have recommended it to several colleagues already.”
